Artist's Description
This is a mixed media effort. I think I need to show more of the mixed media I have used and not cover it with paint so much. However, I love the texture it has created. The photograph of the artwork is a bit shiny so I will have to rectify that at a later date.
The photograph does not do it justice. I love how it turned out.
I used acrylic paints, newspaper and photographs etc to make it a mixed media experiment. It may develop another life if it is not taken off my wall soon. It has several layers of acrylic paint and I used, palette knives, squeegees and masonry trowels to spread the paint around. I was trying to study the interaction of colors on the canvas and I guess I used a bit too much paint so my paper collage is kind of hidden out of sight! Even though it is a painting done in red it is a muted version of the color.

Dr. Hyacinth Paul is a retired scientist and Professor who recently started her career as an artist. Her works are both abstract and realistic, mostly done in oil, acrylics and mixed media. Her paintings are very colorful because she believes color sparks synesthesia and involuntarily evokes feelings of joy. Her paintings using the method of the old masters technique take several weeks to complete. Her abstracts are opinions and thoughts she is trying to communicate through her colorful canvas. She has just completed over 58 works in the 58th year of her life. Within the last year, Dr. Paul has exhibited in more than 10 solo/group exhibitions.
