Artist's Description
Poppies in Cia's Garden in the summer of 2019. I had stopped by her place for some odd reason and saw these poppies swaying in the breeze and they looked so splendid , so rich was their color red, I couldn't even begin to capture them on my canvas. I just had to come home and paint them. I used the photograph I took as a slight reference but created the painting so it would have an abstract component to it. I think I need to paint a Poppies series. Will definitely go out to her garden in 2020 to do just that!
Exhibiting at “Art in Isolation – North Dakota Museum of Art”, April, 2020
The painting is done in acrylics on a rather large canvas 48 X 24 inches. I think I did not use the palette knife to get texture in this painting. It was mostly done with a brush. I enjoy painting large and was so relieved when Henny Penny took five of my large canvases for their offices! Hopefully they will be bought!

About Hyacinth Paul
Dr. Hyacinth Paul is a retired scientist and Professor who recently started her career as an artist. Her works are both abstract and realistic, mostly done in oil, acrylics and mixed media. Her paintings are very colorful because she believes color sparks synesthesia and involuntarily evokes feelings of joy. Her paintings using the method of the old masters technique take several weeks to complete. Her abstracts are opinions and thoughts she is trying to communicate through her colorful canvas. She has just completed over 58 works in the 58th year of her life. Within the last year, Dr. Paul has exhibited in more than 10 solo/group exhibitions. She entered three juried shows as of last month and was accepted into a couple from which...
