Description
Amazon is my latest creation. It includes the colors of the Amazon. This past weekend the news inspired me to hasten the painting only because the beautiful colors are now being marred with the colors of fire, smoke and destruction. This is a true calamity. However, the bigger calamity- that we are all a part of is, that we as a people are not doing enough to protect the planet we call home. I hope my paintings will inspire people to take a closer look and perhaps, do something as simple as choosing to take their own grocery bags to the grocery, to ditch the one time use plastics and water bottles, recycle and better yet, go out this Fall and plant a tree. I tried planting 30 trees last summer, not one of the baby trees survived because the summers are brutal in OH :(. However, I am going to try in the Fall - this year. All it takes is taking the baby trees from your yard and planting it in a park. Let's go do it people! I have faith in the world and its inhabitants. Surely we are not going to obliterate our own existence.
My blog is really a collection of my thoughts on the effect of color in art on the health and well being of society. This initial study will help me get seed data upon which other studies will be based upon. If you fill out this questionnaire and send it in to hyacinth@hyacinthpaulart.com you will be entered to win an original painting of mine on November 30, 2020. If you sign up for my monthly newsletter you can stay abreast of news pertaining to my study, my art and some ideas that form food for thought.
The predominant colors in this artwork are green, blue, red and grey in its various shades with a touch of white. The size of the original artwork is relevant for a cozy nook. It will do very well if it is framed in a handsome frame. If you prefer a larger size, I recommend buying a print from the site that allows for purchasing several items not just prints. Also, sales of any of the items help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as 100% of the profits are donated until Jun 5, 2020 and 25% thereafter.

Please note that the sale of this original art will generate funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to help raise money for cancer research. I was introduced to the work of LLS in 2017. This organization that has climbed up 30 points in one year on the Forbes charity navigator. It is run by highly competent scientists and physicians who I have personally met. They believe they can cure cancer within our lifetime, and I agree. Study and look at the progress they have made since their inception nearly 70 years ago! The cure rate of blood cancers in 1960, the year I was born, was 3%. Today it is 94%.
The research continues to happen at a feverish pace all over the world to bridge that gap. I raise money for Aparna who sadly lost her fight to cancer. We are losing many more as we speak whose lives have been cut short by these dreadful diseases. Just within the last week we have lost two of the greats, Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor, to this deadly disease. Every life is precious. It is our responsibility to help fund the fight and propel discoveries. We are the product of such discoveries. We enjoy a longer life expectancy because of the discoveries of people who came before us. I am a product of scholarships that were provided to me when I was a young, bright-eyed, enthusiastic PhD student who put in nearly 15 hours a day toward research. So I ask you unabashedly, on behalf of these scholars who toil, to help find those discoveries that will finally beat cancer.
